Homework 12 due Mar 6, via e-mail or in the homework box at the expedition of the mathematics department

The evaluation of this course is by homework and a final exam.

You will be awared 7.5 ECTS points for passing this course.

There will be weekly homework, in total 12 homework sets. Every homework set has a maximum score of 3 points, thus 36 points are achievable on homework.

Each homework is due at the exercise session in the following week. Late homework will result in a lowered score. If you think you have a valid reason for turning in homework late, you must get permission from the lecturer before the original deadline.

Discussing the homework problem with each other is admissible and even encouraged, but you have to formulate your solutions separately. Identical or nearly identical solutions are not acceptable.

The final exam consists of six problems, each of which can give up to 6 points, for a sum of 36 points.

The final score is the better of

  • the final exam score; and
  • the weighted average of the final exam score (75%) and the homework score (25%)

The minimum scores required for each grade are given by the following table:

A B C D E FX F
30 27 24 21 18 16 0

A score of 16 or 17 is a failing grade with the possibility to improve to an E grade by additional work.

Make-up exams: If you have taken this course in a previous year but have not passed, and you want to be re-examined this year, only the exam grade will count towards your grade. We cannot consider homework from previous years.
